Arnór Björnsson

Arnór Björnsson is an actor, screenwriter, and director born in Hafnarfjörður in 1998. He graduated from the acting program at the Iceland University of the Arts in 2022. Although he also works as an actor, Arnór is one of the most prolific writers of his generation, both for the theatre and the screen.

In his teenage years, he wrote and starred in three stage productions at Gaflaraleikhúsið. Among them was The Teenager (2013), for which he received two Icelandic Theatre Awards nominations at the age of 14. In 2015, he wrote the novel The Search for the Teenager’s Purpose, the best-selling young adult book of that year.

Alongside his studies at the Iceland University of the Arts (LHÍ), he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in the television series Meikar Ekki Sens (2020). He also starred in and wrote three seasons of Stundin Okkar (2021–2023), for which he received an Icelandic Film Awards nomination.

After graduating from acting school, he continued working across multiple fields:

Arnór wrote and acted in two productions for the Reykjavík City Theatre: Happy Faces (2024) and Ekki Hugmynd (2026). He played the role of Kalli in 112 Reykjavík (2025) and premiered his debut as a film director: "The 15 minute Rule" at RIFF 2025. Furthermore he wrote and starred in the comedy series 20 Something, which will air on Icelands' national broadcasting service in 2026.

Arnór is currently working on another short film, a Christmas calendar series for RÚV, and several new stage productions.
